Architect / Technical Manager

Led by Richard Beard, FAIA, Richard Beard Architects is a growing group of design professionals with recognized expertise, specializing in distinctive custom homes, luxury multi-family communities, and specialty commercial and hospitality environments. Our studio’s work is significantly informed by how architecture can integrate with interior and landscape design to achieve a unified design that exceeds the sum of its parts. The Position
We are looking for a leader to join our studio in San Francisco’s Dogpatch. Our culture supports personal and professional growth.
Responsivities include:
- Normal duties of a project architect.
- Advise the full team of architects throughout all phases of projects in coordination with the Technical Director.
- Help ensure successful production of consistent and quality design by providing expertise and feedback on projects in earlier design phases.
- Work directly with Senior Leadership to review, update, and disseminate office standards procedures and policies.
- Assure that all projects have consistent technical review of drawing sets throughout all project phases, whether by performing review and quality control directly or deputizing others to do so.
- Provide guidance to staff regarding building codes, permit standards and other regulatory guidelines, including dissemination and implementation of all relevant changes to industry and firm standards and practices.
- Run periodic Workshops to expand staff’s technical knowledge and reduce Firm risk and liability.
- Encourage and enable staff to reach their potential.
Qualifications & requirements include:
- An accredited professional architecture degree: B.Arch or M.Arch.
- CA licensure or enrolment with NCARB, participation in IDP and active pursuit of licensure.
- 10 years of experience with an architectural firm, including high-end residential project.
- Experience with meeting client expectations and coordinating consultants for a range of projects.
- High proficiency in, Revit and Enscape.
- Proficiency in Sketch-Up, MS Office and Adobe CS.
- Strong knowledge of building systems/methods and entitlements.
- A great design sensibility and a strong portfolio.
- The ability to manage budgets and schedules on several projects.
- Strong organization and communication skills and attention to detail. The ability to manage one’s own time is essential.
