Brownstone Boys LLC is a small, fast-growing design and project management firm that works with clients typically from the initial buying phase throughout the renovation process. The majority of our projects are in historic Brooklyn brownstone properties usually consisting of a complete restoration and remodel of the entire building. Restoring and modernizing these architecturally beautiful buildings is a challenging and rewarding process. We have an immediate opportunity for a Project Designer, with a passion for design and strong organizational skills. The individual will help with all aspects of the project from conceptual design, design presentations, producing detailed drawings and renderings, sourcing materials, and trouble-shooting. The best applicant will be great at wearing many hats and comfortable with a changing scope of work. The position can be part-time or full-time. 

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of work experience in architecture or design 

  • Professional degree from an accredited design school
  • Strong design background with good technical and detailing skills
  • Knowledge of construction sequencing and interior finishes 
  • Proficiency in Autocad or equivalent 

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative suite 

  • 3D rendering experience is not required but is a plus 
  • Skilled at multitasking and working toward multiple deadlines at once.

  • Able to source finishes, work with vendors, and put together schedules (specifically plumbing fixtures, tile/flooring, doors, lighting, trim/molding and other finishes) and drawings (interior elevations, design plans, detail sketches).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact well with clients, and consultants

  • Project management skills – Organized, self-starter who can work independently, comfortable working in remote work environment

  • Ability to roll up sleeves and interact fluently on-site with builders and clients

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with projects from schematic design through construction

  • Create project design elevations in AutoCAD or similar software

  • Create design presentations 

  • Sourcing and ordering materials 

  • Coordinate with vendors on finish materials orders

  • Assist with coordination of general contractors, fabricators, millworkers, and vendors to ensure timely installation of the project

  • Onsite project meetings throughout Brooklyn

  • Willingness to learn and a strong interest in real estate, architecture, and design. 

  • You will be working primarily from home with occasional site meetings in Brooklyn. 
  • Salary based on relevant experience.
