Job Description

Otherworks is seeking a local part-time intern (10-20 hours a week) to digitally model, 3D-print, and render architectural projects in our office. The duration of the internship is 2 months and could potentially be extended if there's mutual interest and availability. This position is open to current students and recent grads.

Our office’s work hours are flexible, but generally M-F 9-5. Ideally the candidate would be able to work most of their hours in our downtown Los Angeles office, but there is potential work-from-home flexibility.

A great candidate for this position should be able to demonstrate strong personal interest and expertise with 3D printing, and especially architectural visualization, in their application.

About Our Office

Otherworks is a small and young architecture office based in downtown Los Angeles. We approach our work with an iterative methodology and design-oriented sensibility to find contextual, site-specific solutions for each project. We have ongoing commercial and residential projects which we are eager to document and publish, hence the opening for this position to assist in this area.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should:

  • Be proficient with 3D-modeling in Rhino
  • Have experience with creating physical models and 3D-printing architectural projects
    • Experience with Ultimaker a plus
  • Be highly skilled with architectural rendering - any commercially available software
    • Experience with Lumion and/or VRay a plus
  • Be skilled with Photoshop and post-processing rendering techniques
  • Be proactive and willing to learn new software
  • Have strong visual sensibility and communication skills
  • Having previous work or internship experience is a plus

Compensation

The compensation is hourly at a competitive rate. Work produced from this internship can be used in your portfolio. We are also able to approve AXP hours.

How to Apply

Please send applications to may@ow-office.com with the subject line "Name / Internship."

The application should be one PDF, no larger than 10 MB, containing:

  • A cover letter including your desired start date and available number of hours per week
  • Resume including at least one reference
  • Work samples of recent architectural 3D printing and rendering (any method or software)
    • For rendering samples, we're more concerned with your visual sensibility and the quality of the work than the software it came from. However, if you have any rendering samples produced in Lumion or VRay, we'd be interested in seeing those as well.
  • Samples of professional/student work not specifically related to 3D printing or rendering are appreciated, but should only occupy a minor portion of the application
