RELA, PC is seeking a full-time architectural designer to grow with us. We’re a small, established architecture firm in Lower Manhattan focused on residential and commercial work. Current projects include multi-family apartment buildings, several apartment renovations and office interiors.

Firm members are involved in a variety of functions and tasks in a relaxed and supportive environment. You will be involved in most aspects of the firm’s work including site surveys and programming; building code and zoning analysis; conceptual, schematic and project design, detailing, contract drawings; and construction administration including site visits, project meetings and reports. The ideal applicant is highly organized, enthusiastic, curious, and self-motivated; with design, drafting and contract documents experience at at least one architecture firm and interiors or engineering firms. 

Applicants’ previous project management experience should include residential projects; collaborating with engineers and other team members; and coordinating deliverables. You should meet or exceed the following job requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master of Architecture professional degree 
  • 5 years professional experience. Contract administration experience is a plus. 
  • A licensed professional or already on the path to licensure
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Familiar with zoning and construction codes
  • Ability to write project specs and prepare detailed CDs 
  • At ease presenting to clients and a public speaking
  • Advanced Revit and AutoCAD user familiar with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, various 3D modeling apps, and project management software

Office Culture RELA is a small firm by choice and we typically have five to eight full-time employees based on work load. Our collegial culture is built on respect for each employee’s knowledge, experience and unique background. The firm has a very flat organization that promotes professional growth and experience. We cover most licensing fees and related expenses.

Our office is located in New York’s Financial District in a 1920s mid-rise building designed by Starrett & Van Vleck for Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Company. The office features roomy workstations with space to spread out drawings and samples, a well-equipped conference room, large format plotter, and eat-in kitchenette. MTA’s Fulton Street Transit Hub and the World Trade Center PATH station are a few blocks away.
