Job Summary

The perfect candidate for the Project Director role will have extensive project management experience in architecture or construction management.  This key role helps lead and optimize the output of an architectural team that delivers prefab structures to California and beyond. This individual should have at least 5-7 years of experience in architecture or construction, preferably with a focus in residential housing.  The right candidate will be highly organized and capable of managing/motivating/driving teams. The role encompasses setting priorities for the workflow of the different project teams, managing the bid process for onsite pre-delivery work, and tracking project timelines and schedules as homes move towards the production assembly line and into the field for installation.  The Project Director will coach and assist in communication flow with clients. 

What you will do

  • Distribute workload for project teams to increase productivity, taking into consideration team member capacity, current workload, production schedule, deadlines, etc.
  • Streamline processes through project tracking.
  • Lead weekly status updates and commitment dates from design, factory, site, sales/ marketing, etc. Helping project managers communicate with their clients, enhancing the overall customer experience.
  • Coordinate task and responsibilities to project teams (Task, design research, code research, etc.)
  • Provide technical guidance and solutions to resolve design challenges.
  • Review/ validate budgets before submitting each project to increase productivity, maximize revenue and increase profits.
  • Establish and track project budgets, invoicing
  • Assist in handling escalated customer issues and concerns.
  • Train/develop/onboard new members of the Design Team. Assume mentoring of the next generation of leadership by inspiring, empowering and leading by example.
  • Assist in hiring processes for new members.
  • Assist in communication between the project team, clients, contractors, consultants, and building & planning department officials.
  • Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs.
  • Actively participates in Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Performs other duties as required

What you will bring  

  • BArch/MArch if coming from architecture, Bachelors in Construction Management or related field if coming from construction
  • Minimum 5-7 years of project management experience either on the architecture side or construction side. 
  • Comfort interacting with clients is required
  • Advanced oral and written communications skills

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with housing, either single family, tract, multi-family of mixed use is preferable but not required
  • PMIC certification a plus
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing systems and controls
