Small architecture firm on Upper East Side, NYC is looking for a junior designer with one to two years’ experience in historic restoration, adaptive reuse and traditional design. Our projects involve buildings in New York City and Westchester County, NY usually with historic significance. The successful candidate will be working directly under a Project Manager to prepare Construction and Contract Documents and coordinate consultants for various projects. 

Position Requirements:  

We are interested in candidates with a professional degree in architecture. 

  • BArch, MArch or equivalent degree from an accredited U.S. Architecture School. A preservation background is also preferred.
  • Enrollment in NCARB AXP with eligibility to become licensed.
  • Self-motivated and high energy.
  • Talent and passion for restoration and adaptive reuse projects.
  • Suitable applicants must be knowledgeable about restoration and facade repair work.
  • Certified or willing to become certified to perform scaffold inspections.
  • Ability to work in team setting and adapt to office standards. 
  • Responsive and dependable to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to develop construction documents based on field exploration and deal directly with clients.  
  • Interest in facade restoration (NYC FISP experience is a plus)
  • Experience with NYC DOB, LPC, and other regulatory agency filings is a plus.
  • Excellent visual, verbal and written communication skills
  • Display enthusiasm for working with our team.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Excellent drawing and sketching skills required. 
  • Fluency in AutoCAD is required, additional fluency in Revit is preferred.
  • Graphic skills and software knowledge (SketchUp, Rhino, InDesign and Photoshop) are preferred.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.  All applicants who are not U.S. citizens must describe their status to work in the United States, including visa type and duration.

In addition, the position requires design, development of contract documents, site inspections, report generation and project management skills.  The applicant will be expected to perform scaffold inspections and eventually deal directly with clients.
