A high-end interior design firm in New York is looking for an Junior Decorator with at least 2 years experience to work closely with Intermediate Designers, Senior Designers and Studio Directors to provide development, production support and co-ordination throughout the project delivery process as a member of the design team. A dependable, energetic individual with a “can-do” attitude and exceptional attention to detail, the Junior Decorator is responsible for supporting the efforts of the design team to ensure the successful completion of the project. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Deliverables
- Maintains and files correspondence, drawings, shop drawings and approved finishes.
- Ensures accurate meeting notes are taken and reported to team members.
- Weekly time sheet completion.
- Prepares meeting agendas and ensures accurate meeting notes are taken and reported to team members.
- Prepares project schedules.
- Uses computer-aided design (CAD) to prepare required layouts, floor plans, elevations, custom furniture drawings and lighting drawings required to convey decorating intent.
- Meets all deadlines for decorating deliverables.
- Prepares client presentations under the guidance of senior team members.
- Prepares specification packets and room sheets for presentation to the client.
- Shops for all FF&E requirements including furniture, fabrics, lighting, wall and floor finishes, carpets and window treatments.
- Supervises installation of FF&E including arranging furniture, hanging window treatments and artwork.
- Assists in the research of interior trends.
- Facilitates sample pulls, tracks their delivery, and ensures timely returns as required.
- Assists in the coordination of deliveries, CFA’s, finish samples and other materials.
- Assists in the supervision of interns and organizing the sample library.
- Runs errands as needed.
- Corresponds with vendors to obtain accurate quotes for all FF&E requirements.
- Writes purchase orders and client invoices to ensure timely delivery of project.
Industry Knowledge:
- Follows and speaks to current industry trends on space, function, decorative lighting, fabrics, furniture and equipment, etc.
- Develops innovative design concepts that are practical, aesthetic, safe and conducive to intended purposes and function and are reflective of client goals and within project budget.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Able to make decisions and communicate in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly presentable, intelligent, confident and discreet with an outgoing, upbeat and confident demeanor.
- Goal and detail-oriented with exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Proficient in the use AutoCAD, Sketch-Up, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office programs.
- Possess basic knowledge of interior design principles/practices.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design.
- At least 2 years of demonstrated work experience with Interior Design and/or Architectural Firms.
