MADE Design/Build specializes in custom architectural design, construction management and specialty fabrication.  Located in a Civil War-era warehouse on the historic piers of Red Hook, Brooklyn, MADE’s facilities include a design studio and fabrication workshop.

The Designer is responsible for assisting in the successful development and completion of design work from schematic design to Owner occupation and project closeout. The Designer works under the supervision of the Project Architect or Project Designer for the successful completion of project objectives.  Primary responsibilities will include completing the drawing and documentation of the project during all design phases, including digital and physical modeling and research/identification of project specifications.

Qualifications:

  • A professional degree in Architecture with 0-3 years of professional experience. 

  • Experience working on project documentation for all phases including SD > DD > CD > BN > CA

  • Long term interest in Design/Build and MADE

  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to collaborate with the work of others

  • Fluency in drafting with AutoCAD, hand-sketching, 3D rendering and physical model-making

  • Detail-oriented and ability to document technical construction processes 

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Provide information for all project administrative reports, including work plans and invoicing, to assist the Director of Architecture in managing weekly team progress check-in meetings 

  • Review and implement innovative design resources and methodologies to keep MADE’s work innovative

Project Responsibilities:

  • At project start-up, synthesize initial project information from the Project Owner, Design and Build teams to establish project scope, schedule and budget objectives and to document clear work plans for each project team member 

  • Assist in the production of required deliverables according to the schedule of completion for each project phase. 

  • Assist in the production of design development and documentation in particular renderings, physical models, and resource imagery for Owner presentations 

  • Assist in the completion of all drawing sets issued for Permitting, Pricing, and Construction during the CD phase and shop drawing submittals during the CA phase 

The ideal candidate must have good communication skills, be hands-on and open-minded, and have a desire to work in teams with multiple designers and builders. This is a full-time position with compensation and benefits commensurate with experience.
