CDG seeks a thoughtful, dedicated, and talented young architect with 2+ years of office production experience to provide production support in all facets of design, production, and construction.  Experience with commercial/corporate interior projects is preferred.  Initial compensation shall be commensurate with experience, to be adjusted after a one month performance review.  Local applicants only please.  We look forward to again working from our office in Century City/Westwood when safe to do so.  We will provide a new laptop, software, and IT assistance.

This is a position with unlimited growth potential in a unique practice with over three decades of history, yet also the excitement of a small firm.  You will be working directly with the owners and principals.  This position is primarily anticipated to work on our commercial interior projects, though we also have other project types, including residential (single family, multi-family, and ADU).  Please visit cdgla.com to learn more about us.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong working knowledge of architectural drafting and graphic standards, and experience creating drawing sets for client review, permitting, and construction. 

Software skill set: Revit, Autocad, Enscape, Sketchup, Bluebeam, Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, General facility with computer systems.  Experience with VR, Rhino, and Wix a bonus

Our assumption will be that you are capable until we find your current limits, and then we will pull back and coach you to grow and develop from there.  You will contribute to the production, coordination, and management of projects from design concept through construction administration. You should be comfortable working on multiple projects any given week.

Top applicants will demonstrate strong abilities/interests in the following:

  • Construction Documentation production; proficiency with building technologies and the fundamentals of building construction and assembly.
  • Familiarity with codes, ability to perform a building code analysis, and design with a strong understanding of accessibility requirements.
  • Code, Material, and Product research
  • Experience with office and drafting standards, templates, file management, and drafting best practices.
  • Efficiency, while also quality controlling all output prior to review
  • Experience picking up redlines is required.
  • Strong graphic and visual presentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of sustainable materials and design application.
  • Attention to detail

Valued Interior-specific skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of commercial furniture lines and procurement process, including furniture spec writing for bid process
  • Ability to select finish materials and prepare electronic as well as tactile color/materials presentation boards
  • Experience with site verification at job sites to document existing conditions
  • Knowledge of interior lighting and AV solutions for conference and office spaces

Not required, but a plus:

  • Familiarity with VR/AR and digital fabrication
  • Dexterity with hand drawing, hand rendering capabilities.
  • Completion of IDP hours / pursuit of licensure

The Applicant should be organized, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and willing to take on a variety of tasks. Strong verbal and written communications skills, strong time management and the ability to multi-task will be required. Good candidates will have a passion for producing precise and orderly construction drawings and details, with a strong understanding of line weight and graphic communication.
