CDG seeks a thoughtful, dedicated, and talented young architect with 2-5 years of office production experience to provide production support in all facets of design, production, and construction.  While initially part time, an applicant who proves capable, reliable, and a good cultural fit will be offered a full time position with salary and benefits.  Initial compensation is anticipated between $20-$35/hr depending on experience, and will be adjusted after a performance review within the first month.  Local applicants only please.

This is a position with unlimited growth potential in a unique practice with over three decades of history yet also the excitement of a small firm reinventing itself.  You will be working directly with the owners and principals.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong working knowledge of architectural drafting and graphic standards, and experience creating drawing sets for permitting and construction. 

Our assumption will be that you are capable until you prove otherwise, and then we will pull back and coach you to grow and develop from there.  You will contribute to the production, coordination and management of projects from design concept through construction administration. Applicants should be comfortable working in a fast paced environment and demonstrate strong abilities/interests in the following:

  • Construction Documentation production, (including design details). Proficiency with building technologies and the fundamentals of building construction and assembly.
  • Familiarity with codes, ability to perform a building code analysis, and design with a strong understanding of accessibility requirements.
  • Code, Material, and Product research
  • Experience with office and drafting standards, templates, file management, and drafting best practices.
  • Efficiency, while also quality controlling all output prior to review
  • Experience picking up redlines is required.
  • Strong graphics and visual presentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with consultants and work on a project team.
  • Fluency with current software, and production experience in AutoCAD, Revit, 3Dmodeling software, rendering engines, and Adobe CS.. 

Not required, but a plus:

  • Experience creating redlines.
  • Interest and experience with interior design and finishes.
  • Residential experience.
  • Knowledge of sustainable materials and design application.
  • Familiarity with VR/AR and digital fabrication
  • Dexterity with hand drawing, rendering capabilities.
  • Completion of IDP hours and pursuit of licensure
  • Architectural License

The Applicant should be organized, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and willing to take on a variety of tasks. Strong verbal and written communications skills, strong time management and the ability to multi-task will be required. Good candidates will have a passion for producing precise and orderly construction drawings and details, with a strong understanding of lineweights and graphic communication.
