Position Overview

The Senior Design Manager leads the preparation of architectural presentations and production drawings, generates design studies and assesses design proposals under the direction of the Partners / Principals. Requires minimum ten years experience.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop conceptual designs and presentations.
  2. Provide oversight of junior and architectural designers.
  3. Manage project design, project budgets, staffing requirements and schedules to meet project goals.
  4. Perform programming of design requirements, space planning, and verification of code compliance.
  5. Resolve design issues with creative and practical solutions.
  6. Sourcing, selecting and specifying of finishes and fixtures as design requires.
  7. Oversee the coordination of consultants, fabricators, vendors and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives. Report progress to Principal / Partners.
  8. Perform quality assurance / quality control of architectural drafting and rendering in accordance with company standards.
  9. Contribute to office activities, initiatives and programs.

Skills / Requirements

1. 10+ years of experience on architecture projects
2. Must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to problem solve both individually and as part of a project team.
3. Must be able to manage design team to achieve design intentions while keeping project on time and on budget.
4. Proficiency in the use of 2D/3D software, including Revit, AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max, Sketchup, Photoshop, Rhino, and InDesign.
5. High level knowledge of materials and construction techniques.
6. Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple or fast paced projects.
7. Strong graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas.
8. Bachelors Degree in Architecture.
9. Ability to work cooperatively with others.
