Quality Control- Senior Technical Project Architect

Selldorf Architects is an international architecture and interior design firm based in Manhattan.  The firm’s portfolio encompasses a wide range of projects, including cultural, institutional and commercial as well as residential. The firm is currently seeking an experienced Senior Technical Project Architect who will oversee and implement the firms Quality Assurance, Quality Control program. This is a full-time position.

The successful candidate will have the following experience and qualifications:

  • 15-20 + years architectural related experience.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Architecture required.
  • Architectural License required
  • This candidate will develop a leadership presence office wide as a resource for technical design efforts
  • This candidate will lead the review of design and construction documents in order to confirm quality control compliance with the contract deliverables
  • This candidate will demonstrate leadership in terms of implementing the firm’s standard procedures and protocols to assure continuity and consistency of project documentation across the firm in support of overall office wide goals
  • Advanced knowledge and ability to conduct zoning and building code analysis and research is required.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of building materials, detailing, construction techniques, building systems selection, related engineering principles, sustainability strategies, and construction cost structures
  • Directs and mentors’ Architectural staff in the preparation of design and technical documents
  • Performs and/or directs material and building systems research and participates in the coordination and preparation of project specifications 
  • Deep experience in all aspects of Construction Administration, including site observation; managing contractor submittals and RFIs.
  • Supervises fellow team members and direct reports in the review of shop drawings and sample submittals
  • Must have solid process skills and good problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines, completing tasks as previously defined.
  • Supervisory and management skills required.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and Revit required.
  • Actively supports compliance with BIM/CAD project standards and procedures;
  • Demonstrates awareness of latest industry wide initiatives, technologies and processes in the A/E/C community. Seeks creative and innovative solutions to complex problems and develops appropriate research and documentation to support these solutions
