MAD Architects is a global studio of talented architects, designers, and creative thinkers dedicated to impacting the experience and understanding of the built space that surrounds us, developing visionary, fluid, and technologically advanced designs that embody a contemporary interpretation of the Eastern affinity for nature.

Our team of 130 works across offices in Beijing, Los Angeles, and Rome, on projects ranging from livable large-scale urban developments to imaginative civic, cultural, residential and hospitality buildings of varying scale that endeavor to create a balance between humanity, the city, and the environment.

Current projects include the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, Nanjing Zendai Himalayas Centre, China Philharmonic Hall, Gardenhouse, Unic Paris, Quzhou Sports Campus, and Rotterdam Fenix Museum. 

For our growing Los Angeles studio, we are looking for Intermediate Architects / Designers with 5 to 7 years of experience to head our talented teams on high-profile medium to large scale projects.  

  • You will be leading design, architectural and technical aspects as well as the assist in project management throughout the design phases, with a focus on preserving MAD’s design intent from concept to constructed reality.
  • You will produce drawings and models to support MAD's Partners, Senior Associates, and design team. You will supervise and coach Junior Designers to ensure the overall design quality, scheduling, and execution standards are met.
  • You will develop, represent and communicate your projects internally and externally with clarity, design sensitivity, and a sound understanding of technical feasibility, and build strong connections to clients and collaborators.
  • You will impart your design standards as well as your technical and practical experience to your team, and inspire, coach and mentor them. 
  • You will be offered the opportunity to take on a key role in the design and project development within MAD.
  • You are a globally-minded individual with an excellent academic background (Master in Architecture or equivalent from an internationally recognized architecture school) and a proactive, positive attitude.
  • You have a track record of at least 5 years in-depth post-qualification involvement in leading international architecture firms, having demonstrated success as a Project Designer and/or Manager on complex large-scale mixed-use, multi-family, cultural, civic and hospitality projects through all stages of design to construction, while managing multidisciplinary internal and external teams.
  • You combine strong aesthetic design sensitivity with a working technical and managerial knowledge, and are a clear and precise communicator.
  • You have experience in putting together drawings sets and have solid understanding of construction drawing and detailing, building systems and materials, and can demonstrate knowledge of practice and industry standards and codes.
  • You excel in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment, enjoy the responsibility of efficiently managing a team through leadership and motivation, and have exemplary time management and delivery skills.
  • You are highly skilled in Revit and Rhino, with working knowledge of Maya. English fluency is a key requirement, with business level Mandarin and other business level language skills a plus.
