Hagerty Consulting, Inc., a nationally recognized, comprehensive Homeland Security and Emergency Management firm focused on helping clients prepare for and recover from disasters, is hiring! We are looking for candidates with professional experience in building design and construction to join its New York City (NYC) Hurricane Sandy Recovery Project.  Full time and independent project consultant candidates will be considered – with compensation commensurate with experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The ideal candidate should have three + years of proven experience in building design and/or construction and, preferably, have prior experience supporting federal disaster recovery programs of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).  We are looking for candidates that have advanced knowledge of NYC building codes and construction practices and its procurement protocols.  Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Partnering with NYC Hurricane Sandy Recovery Project Team Leads and NYC agency liaisons to communicate federal program requirements with design teams.
  • Support the review and organization of construction documents for conformance to federal requirements.
  • Support the review of project scope for conformance with approved grants and federal requirements.
  • Support the review of scope of work changes for FEMA Public Assistance (PA) eligibility (code upgrades, FEMA Section 406 Hazard Mitigation development, change orders, etc.)
  • Support the development of FEMA Project Worksheet (PW) version requests at milestone intervals.
  • Support the review of design team deliverables for conformance to requirements.
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree – such as Engineering, Architecture, Project Management or related study.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, leadership and negotiation skills.
  • Strong core competencies in technology and applications (Advance skills with Microsoft Office – Excel/PowerPoint - QuickBase, SQL, Access, are a plus).
  • Flexibility, integrity, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to excellence in deliverables.

The candidate must be comfortable interacting directly with clients, senior managers and executives.  Must be prepared for intense, challenging work environment and be experienced working in a team atmosphere but be able to deliver independently. Ability to stay calm and poised under pressure and remain focused when working under tight deadlines.

 Desired Qualifications -
