Benjamin Vandiver Interiors + Lifestyle, LLC is seeking a talented full-time candidate with a passion for interior design to join our firm. Benjamin Vandiver Interiors is an award winning design studio located in the Gramercy Park neighborhood in Manhattan. 

Working predominantly in the residential sector, the ideal candidate will take on a supportive role by collaborating with the Principal of the company to assist in the delivery of all phases of our projects from conceptual ideas through to implementation. The chosen candidate will be self-motivated, passionate, a great communicator and have a desire to grow with the company as a key member of our team. Applicants should also demonstrate a strong balance between design sensitivity and technical knowledge, together with the project organization skills that are necessary to operate in a fast-paced environment.

The typical hours of the position are 9:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday; off-hours work and weekend work may be required due to travel and/or project-specific requirements.

Responsibilities would include:

  • Assisting with schematic design through to construction administration, space planning, project planning, material sourcing, production of mood/sample boards, finishes selection, furniture design and specification, FF&E procurement, installation drawings and specifications, 3D design and presentations. 
  • Internal design meetings and problem solving sessions 
  • Site visits and field verifications 
  • Close collaboration and communication with the design team, clients, consultants, contractors and vendors 
  • Consistent ability to meet project deadlines 
  • Assist the Principal of the company with day-to-day office management, including but not limited to: scheduling meetings, walk-throughs, client appointments and all other tasks.
  • Working with team to manage budgets, invoicing & proposals, ordering items 

This is a full-time position, and salary will depend on experience. Position will be based in New York City area. 


  • Bachelor of higher degree from accredited university in Interior Design or Architecture
  • At least 2 years post graduate experience - high end residential/hospitality design preferred 
  • Strong AUTOCAD proficiency
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong detailing skills and understanding of interior design
  • Strong presentation skills using rendering software, Sketch Up, Adobe Suite and hand sketches 
  • Must be organized in all facets of the job to ensure smooth and timely delivery of projects 
  • Experience in FF&E procurement & software desirable 
  • Experience in sourcing and specifying Finishes / Materials
  • Ability to complete tasks with accuracy and strong attention to detail 
  • Excellent multi-tasking ability, highly organized with great attention to detail
  • Exceptionally customer focused and managing vendor relationships
