Junior Designer, Environments - New York

Eight Inc. is looking for a Junior Designer of Environments to work in our New York office. This person will be involved in Schematic, Design Development and Construction Documentation of environmental projects, working closely with all project team members.  Junior designers are required to develop 2D and 3D representations, interpret design direction, and prepare this information to be clearly communicated.  Junior designers will also be closely involved in the preparation of implementation documents, through material research and detail documentation. You should be able to express and produce great ideas that are also solutions to meet business needs.


  • Design for a variety for clients requiring a broad range of experience
  • Collaborate with studio directors and fellow designers to take a project from initial idea to final output
  • Define and develop Schematic creative concepts according to creative brief requirements and the client's objectives
  • Participate in Design Development and prepare concepts for client presentations
  • Participate with studio director and senior designers in preparing fully coordinated Construction Document sets
  • Be flexible in design and able to take direction, feedback and observations with a positive attitude
  • Be able to work and liaise across all departments to produce the best response to creative briefs
  • Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision


  • A degree in Architecture or similar field
  • 2 to 3 years of professional experience in a Design or Architecture office
  • Proficiency in Vectorworks, AutoCAD, Adobe CS (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Rhino and Cinema 4D a plus
  • Exposure with multidisciplinary design projects
  • Ability to produce conceptual designs
  • Previous experience preparing full Construction Document sets
  • Strong technical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to new and complex situations
  • Must have the ability to effectively present ideas (both verbally and visually)
  • Be flexible in design and able to take direction, feedback and observations with a positive attitude
  • Design curious – must be passionate, observant and self-motivated
