Il Mulino New York is currently seeking a talented, passionate and creative Junior Architectural Lighting Designer to join our New York studio. The successful candidate already has a basic familiarity with drawing production, specification writing, detailing, calculations, presentations, and renderings. Ability to demonstrate an innovative thought process, and illustrate lighting design concepts is essential. You will be given as much responsibility for projects as you are capable of assuming, and you will have an opportunity to develop skills in all aspects of lighting design alongside a dedicated team of designers.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the design efforts of lighting for new installations, renovations, and lighting enhancements for a wide variety of projects and project types.
  • Keeps informed on lighting and LED technology.
  • Participate in the development of presentation drawings and renderings.
  • Have excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills. 
  • Develop concepts and strategies for lighting projects.
  • Develop visual materials to represent lighting designs, using photoshop, 3D Studio max, Rhino or Sketchup.
  • Provides support to all team members with lighting systems and knowledge.
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years Architectural lighting design experience. Please include a resume and portfolio when applying.
  • Ability to do field measurements and on - site verification.
  • Familiarity with IESNA guidelines and lighting design best practices.
  • Bachelor Degree (or higher) in Architectural or Theatrical Lighting Design / Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design.
  • Intermediate and demonstrated ability in the use of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AGi32 (or other lighting simulation software), and AutoCAD.
  • Basic understanding of the practice of architecture and architectural design protocols and methods.
