This project is the second of three planned phases adding on to the existing Westfield Shopping Center near La Jolla California. Phase II adds 500,000 s.f. of new retail (98 stores), on top of 1,200,000 s.f. of a combined subterranean and Surface level parking structure. Additionally, the project includes a 14 stall Bus Terminal for the San Diego MTS, and will directly connect to the future SANDAG Light Rail Trolly (the station is currently under construction and will open in 2020)
With the ever changing climate of the retail market, and bricks and mortar retailers competing more and more with online sellers for the same business, Westfield has created a more luxury, destination oriented shopping center with the feel of a Southern California resort.
Taking advantage of the favorable San Diego climate, the environment is open air, with amenity filled common areas that cater to a variety of patron needs. The retail mix offers 12 new restaurants with both indoor and outdoor dining experiences, a spa, an outdoor interactive fountain for children and families, all seamlessly integrated with the existing retail spaces.
The project was completed, and opened to the public in November of 2017.
