o producing 'sample' or 'mood' boards for presentation to clients;
o sourcing products, e.g. fittings, furniture, lighting, finishes, decoration and dressing, and providing samples for clients;
o supervising work at the design stage and on site;
o discussing the objectives, requirements and budget of a project;
o consulting with other professionals about design;
o preparing and presenting feasibility reports and design proposals to the client;
o advising the client on the practicality of their project;
o using IT in design and project management, specifically using computer-aided design software;
o keeping within financial budgets and deadlines;
o producing detailed workings, drawings and specifications;
o specifying the nature and quality of materials required;
o preparing tender applications and presentations;
o negotiating with contractors and other professionals;
o preparing applications for planning and building control departments;
o drawing up tender documents for contracts;
o project managing and helping to coordinate the work of contractors;
o controlling a project from start to finish;
o regular site visits to check on progress, ensuring that the project is running on time and to budget;
o resolving problems and issues that arise during construction;
o Ensuring that the environmental impact of the project is managed.
