This project on Tillinghast farm is to design an outdoor classroom based on the place with transition.Site exploration has three investigations: of ground, of phenomena, and of site spatial transitions. The site was chosen based on those investigations.
The top of hill is the point that has dramatic transition with topography, hydrology, vegetation. The outdoor classroom is designed by emphasizing the threshold by cut a steep slope, planting seasonal changing trees and adding materials. According to existing circulation, same materials and design method are used in an implicit way to give an entrance for people to go to the outdoor classroom.
