Urban Green Sponge--Mill River Confluence

The purpose of this study was to plan the Mill River Greenway by integrating ecological, cultural and recreational resources within the Mill River watershed. The studio was divided into three groups, and every group would propose a development plan for one of these resources. This study explored how to take advantage of wetlands to act as an urban sponge, collecting, cleaning and storing urban stormwater, and then, integrate them with other ecosystem services, including aquifer recharge, recreational use, and aesthetic experience, all of which help foster urban
development.
