A fundamental characteristic of traditional Sukkot is the organic nature of its construction materials. Inspired by this idea of something being erected from the ground beneath it, we asked, “what if the construction could return back into the ground from where it came?” Thus the decision to use sprayed terracotta as an applied pattern for shade. As the week went on, the forecast rain would begin to re-liquify the terracotta and run back into the ground allowing the passage of time to play a prominent role on the aesthetic of this temporary structure.
