Design VIII - Fall 2012 - Professor David Kratzer
Problem Statement: Located at 1729 Allegheny Street, the selected site for the health clinic is in the midst of a health, park, money, and food desert. The careful placement of a health facility on this particular five acre site would open up the possibilities for urban revitalization and EXPAND the context of the Tioga community.
Project Intent: Improve the MENTAL, PHYSICAL, and SOCIAL, well-being of Tioga's inhabitants through the establishment of an OPEN and FREE ENVIRONMENT influenced by NATURE
Design Statement: Through the division into three distinct programmatic cores, the program reflects the site's features and the aspects of good health. Emphasized by its upward movement directed to the south, the central social core focuses its attention to the city skyline. Contrasting to the social core, the western physical core establishes an upward movement directed to the north. drawing circulation to the upper portion of the site. The care and mental programmatic components overlap the physical and social cores therefore establishing interrelationships between the spaces.
Status: School Project
