Flexibility in library space
Brooklyn Public Library - 476 Franklin Ave, Brooklyn, New York
The design for the Brooklyn Public Library originated from the idea of providing a flexible reading and gathering environment to a variety of people in the community. The goal was to design a comfortable reading environment. The idea of flexibility evolved into designing and an envrionment where people would want to spend more time due to the various spaces and activities offered by the library.
The modular units act as shelving units but also as furniture and partitions. They create flexible spaces depending on the library’s needs over time.
