Rutgers Camden Student Housing, located in Camden NJ, features an outboard insulated, terracotta rainscreen. The Unitized System features a factory installed, full floor height window, as well as a factory installed mechanical PTAC Assembly.
The Rutgers project uses our typical triple-gasketed dual chamber panel framing system. However, this was the first time that terracotta had been used with the system, presenting challenges such as an increased load structural system, and a need for increased care when handling and installing the panels. The architects desire for a panel break every ten feet was achieved by introducing false joints, and hiding the real gasketed panel seams. This integrated approach allowed Island to maximize the efficiency of the panelized facade systems, but maintain the integrity of the architects design.
