Design
The development concept and the design for the housing complex evolved in a collaborative process with the property's owner and was sold as an exclusive package to the developer WIB. The complex is now being realised according to imgang's scheme. The building spans 800 sqm net floor area, fully equipped with underground parking spaces and private gardens for all residents.
The design comprises twelve units ranging from two to four room flats, no two being identical. The lack of specific users at the time of planning led to the use of a strategy developed to make the flats suitable for a broad variety of people, without succumbing to the lure of creating 'standardised flats' for 'standardised humans.'
imgang's simple yet effective approach is based on creating dwellings which we ourselves would want to live in; this tactic is grounded in our belief that the human user has to be the sole reason for any architectural creation. The housing complex in Igls illustrates this conviction in its wide variety of flats, each one of which is individually adaptable for respective user demands and needs.
