Tertium Locus, direct translation, third place is the concept of my latest building. Defined as a community building, where the third place (or space) is the social surroundings separating  two usual social environments of home (“first place”) and the office or work place (“second place”). This will be the third place. 

 My vision is to create a sense of nostalgia to the viewer, which should provoke memories, but also stimulate their sensory of the familiar with the unfamiliar.  Each space will vary in materiality, lighting, and temperature, thus creating everyone’s comfort in one (third space), done in different sizes: confined spaces, open spaces and semi-open spaces. To play with the programmatic language of a museum, by creating a sense of home in a public space by developing a semi-public permeable space. 
 The idea of a public social gathering will be altered by creating a sense of privacy in a public social interaction space. It will bring people together by manipulating something that is extremely familiar like home, to an environment where it would not normally be placed. This will create a sense of nostalgia to the viewer, which may provoke memories of the familiar with the unfamiliar. This will be translated by the building’s design from the creation of three, separate environments, connected by a spiraling interactive hallway.
