The new research facility is designed to accommodate Promega’s diverse leading-edge programs in biotechnology, DNA and RNA and robotics research. The design concept is illustrative of the organization’s culture which is highly collaborative, innovative, and futuristic, embracing creativity and connectivity between research groups.
The design of the 280,000 GSF facility is organized around two-story laboratory and work-space blocks connected by bridges across a three-story central atrium. Operable windows for natural ventilation, flexible laboratory areas, and agile work-spaces are unique to the building’s design. A range of individual and group spaces are distributed in both work-space and laboratory areas to enhance inter-group collaboration. A service corridor segregates materials delivery and waste collection flows from the staff circulation. Consistent with Promega’s collaborative culture, the facility will provide several amenity spaces including cafeteria, exercise area, physical and sound therapy rooms, gymnasium, and an Exploratorium to encourage community engagement.
