The museum of cartoon and comic art
This project explored the potentials of non-uniform shell and membrane structures. Both shell and membrane within Modern architectural discourse have implied regularity and optimization, resulting in a limited range of morphologies and applications. For too long, the study of shells and membranes has been trapped by essentialist dogma, where force and gravity are expressed in a 1:1 relation. This project will challenge the assumption that the realms of performance and aesthetics are irreconcilable in contemporary practice.
