We performed the gut renovation of this 1940s brownstone with the aim of establishing a pervasive sense of transparency and openness. The result, a contemporary loft space, reveals an acutely designed and engineered reanimation of the home. Our carefully crafted glass and steel-frame partitions delineate the space with subtlety, creating an expansive atmosphere not typically found in a brownstone. The reclaimed finishes have been seamlessly integrated into the anatomy of the home, blurring the lines between what is retrofitted and what is original.
