Nordhavn, København
The site of Snekkersten’s new waterworks enjoys a view across Snekkersten and the Øresund sound. The new waterworks has been created on high ground that slopes down towards Øresund, taking advantage of the terrain to incorporate the big clean-water tanks so that they not only appear smaller but also reflect the natural gravitational force of the water.
The waterworks are organized into one technical wing and one visitors’ and staff wing. The processing plant is symmetrically structured and located in a cubic building with Corten steel façades that tower over the low concrete wing. A large glazed section is facing the Øresund and overlooking the tanks, while water pumps along the façade and visible downpipes also contribute to the watery narrative.
The new Snekkersten Waterworks is built by Forsyning Helsingør. The building is designed by Gottlieb Paludan Architects and the project is realized as a turnkey contract in collaboration with Krüger A/S, CC Brun A/S and ISC Ingeniører A/S. The building and processing plant was planned in 2018 and was completed in 2020.
