The concept evolved from an interpretation of the physical conditions of the site. The building finishes the wedge by spilling or pouring onto the site and responds to the flow of the city, the flow of people, traffic, and commerce. This idea of pouring is significant to cuisine. The design of a culinary experience in which students learn all phases of the food, the flow of food from soil to table.

A series of greenhouse gardens cascade down the south facing side of the building. These gardens provide fresh fruits and vegetables for the kitchens.The vineyards produce fresh grapes for making wine.The curving roof form uses a steel space frame structure of steel tubes connected by spherical nodes. Panels of opaque and transparent glass cover the frame as an exterior skin. Steel tubes in a V-configuration transfer the weight of the roof to large concrete pylons. Lighting is integrated with the structure, illuminating the details. A massive concrete bearing wall contains the service core and acts as a point of connection between the two different structural strategies.
