The new 30,000 s.f. Performing Arts Center provides an exciting new visual presence for the arts on the campus of the Potomac School, an independent school for grades K through12 in McLean, Virginia. The fan-shaped 500 seat auditorium/amphitheater space is a carefully designed setting for acoustics and stage sight lines, assuring an optimum music and performance environment. A multi-function, curving glass-walled lobby connects the auditorium with an adjacent two level rehearsal wing for band, orchestra and dance classrooms. The building finishes are simple and economical, utilizing painted concrete block and exposed painted structural steel framing.
