Traditional houses restoration project. These are 3 houses and one retail space from the beginning of the 19th century in the center of Rosario city.
The project consisted in the perforation of the houses in order to give them more light and air. The original concept of the house surrounding a patio was kept. The main operation was turning down walls in order to have bigger join spaces.
Most of the improvements were made with recycled materials and scrap parts selected very carefully. The construction required a lot of attention as well as handcraft.
The search for old window frames from similar demolished houses was an important time consuming task but one of the most rewarding. The materials that composed these elements are no longer available in the current market.
The experience of actually doing many of the construction tasks in this project gave me a different understanding of the whole building process.
