HIVE is a futuristic project that deals with the mental and physical stressors of space travel and potential interplanetary habitation. My thesis lays out the case for human-centric holistic design that is proactive in its approach to relieving, mitigating, or preventing any negative effects of the journey. I used examples of extreme conditions and situations to tackle the environmental aspects and situations of human isolation to address the mental aspects of the design.
The habitat I adapted is by AI Space Factory, called MARSHA. I scaled the design and clustered them create a large enclosure that resembles a wasps nest's negative spaces. The project was successful at solving specific problems with potential Mars habitation and the incorporation of biophilic and holistic architecture. HIVE is a project that shows my affinity for out of the box thinking and finding solutions to problems we have yet to think about.
