Zero (or Low) Energy Academic Buildings: Case Studies

Hi All,

My partner MK and I have recently begun assisting a couple of professors with the second phase of a research project, and are hoping that those of you reading this thread will be able to name projects that fit the following general criteria:

"[The research] project objective has been to identify, examine and summarize contemporary buildings (of university campus typologies, or similar) that exemplify best practices in achieving sustainable design, high performance design, and (possible) zero energy design."

For example, in the first phase of the research, the Yale University School of Sculpture by Kieran Timberlake was one of four case studies.

For the second phase of the research, our specific criteria are as follows:
-Academic/Campus building or similar typology
-25,000 to 100,000 square feet (ideally)
-high heat, high humidity summer (ideally)

Since the long term goal of this research is to inform a specific new construction project, we are hoping to discover examples that fit the above size and climate criteria.

...

Following the framework of the first phase of the research, we will be looking at a new set of projects not only for the environmental strategies that they've implemented, but also for the practices they utilize to measure the effectiveness of those strategies (post-occupancy).

Any project names, etc. that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Aaron

holz, thanks for the list, and for the EULEB link. I considered asking for you by name in the original post...

I've looked a bit closer at these, and at others found via archdaily's "education" and "educational" categories, etc. One noteworthy project I stumbled upon (which I'm surprised I didn't think of) is Studio Gang's Columbia College Media Production Center.

I'll add more projects once I've had a chance to vet them...

great resource Barry, thanks! a bit odd that they don't list the names of the architects or project team members, but a great portal nevertheless.

an historicist student center project from a few years ago at WUSTL is among the case studies at AASHE:
