Uniforms with diagonal stripes have a long tradition in soccer:
Inter Milan from 1960
Vasco da Gama (Portoguese team) from the 60s
Juventus (Turin) present away jersey
I'm sure there's others. I don't mind the diagonal stripe, although the USA uniform does have a bit of a "ribbon around a gift" look. There's a white "home" version that is not bad:
but I think they should have gone with the red and blue "third version":
I was going to buy a national team jersey but found that they're made of a super-light-weight-space-age-something, which feels like you're wearing a crappy t-shirt from 1973. Ain't paing $70 for that!

US soccer uniform: why designed like that?
Does anyone know the idea for US national soccer team uniform?
obviously the dark blue and white using US flag color, but that angled stripe is very annoying. is it half of V?

i believe that it was designed to be reminiscent of the 1950 world cup uniforms, which of course is the last time the US beat england...

of course River....quite famous too.
wow, yes, psheldahl, how could I forget the historic Club Atlético River Plate, the most famous of the diagonal shirts...
I am Boca...but still appreciate the jersey :)
I like this " Vasco da Gama (Portoguese team) from the 60s" and river shirt.
I thought the diagonal stripe implied diving:
just be glad they look a bit less like prep school tools than our latest national sports uniform:

That is a beautiful picture.
Why this looks much more natural than US soccer shirt? Is there a quantitative measurement to diagnose it?
It looks like they're wearing seatbelts. Safety first.
