But my advice: do the math, investment in education costs and time vs your expected salary and satsfaction you get from the work and figure whether that adds up. Tuition costs are out of control IMHO, what is your current financial circumstances? Best of luck, it's not easy, it'll be hard work... Ongoing new things to learn in and put of school...

And I'll give you a hint: I drive a late model luxury European Sedan with leather interior (the fours doors are necessary for my kids) and I do have a basement (in my very nice 2,500 SF house in an upscale neighborhood that is NOT located anywhere near the inner city) but I hardly ever go down there except to refill the water softner salt and once in awhile adjust the central air system or turn on the supplemental radiant floor heating for the cooler months. It was NOT architecture's 35K salary that helped me to afford these things either.

Right, for clarification, when I said "Paul" in that last post, I was referring to the owner of this site, who set the terms of use, who has every right in the world to establish reasonable terms of discourse and conduct, that our friend here feels compulsively unable to adhere to.

I pointed out in another thread and even offered evidence that some level of racial prejudice is a pretty common thing. The difference is, the vastest proportion of people, from all walks of life, have at least mustered the courage and common human decency to attempt in the most important ways possible share this planet on just and fair terms. Unfortunately, all the progress weve worked so hard to make as a people has left this sludge at the bottom of the barrel. Its left people who, for bad upbringing or congenital birth defect or traumatic brain injury or god knows what just cant find it in their being to see beyond this bullshit in their heads and have lost the most basic capacity for common empathy necessary to function as normal part of the human race. But I think we can see that for some, thats just not whats going on. You are arriving at the worst of times economically for the economy, which I think accounts for poster cynicism... Don't let it get you down... 3 years from now things may look different for a graduate... But who knows... In a good year, it's a decent industry to be in: AEC is the largest sector of the economy.
But my advice: do the math, investment in education costs and time vs your expected salary and satsfaction you get from the work and figure whether that adds up. Tuition costs are out of control IMHO, what is your current financial circumstances? Best of luck, it's not easy, it'll be hard work... Ongoing new things to learn in and put of school...
