Rhino surface split question

gonad

Is it possible to partially split a surface in Rhino? The split command cuts the entire surface completely, I can't figure out how to tear the middle of a surface so the control points on either side could be manipulated separately.
An entire split could work, but i'm unable to rejoin selected control points for those two adjacent surfaces.
Any help is appreciated!

i don't think you can partially split the surface. maybe you could extract some isocurves (and your edges), trim the isocurves, then re-create the surface from those pieces?

have you shrunk your surface post split? i know if you trim a surface in rhino, the remaining surface "remembers" the control points, making it hard to manipulate it post-trim. i think splitting works in the same way, so try ShrinkTrimmedSurface (the command is something like that, I have no idea where to find it in the menus). however, i think rebuilding your surfaces out of isocurves and edges may be your best bet because i believe rhino likes to join surfaces like it likes to join lines.

Maybe you'll be able to find any glimpses here: http://www.videorolls.com/watch/Rhino-3D-Blend-Surface
