getting good prints

hankd

not an easy task by any means. most ppl have had some bad experience with professional printing in the past. they tend to mess colors up and often even screw the layout up. most of these supposedly "pro" companies ironically don't seem to know what the hell they're doing.

anyway, im guessing there are a lot of ppl here with tons of experience printing stuff, so thought i would start at square 1 and get it down right this time.

what should i do? where should i go, if anywhere? or should i just get my own printer and do it myself? would it be better quality / cheaper in the long run if i did so? and what kind of printer? just throw some ideas at me.

as for color modes, i know rgb tends to result in better + more accurate colors than cmyk, not only based on what i've read but from experience.

word of advice: get test prints ahead of time.

ok let's go

I'm pretty sure CMYK is meant for print work.

In regards to where to go... hard to answer not knowing city/state/country where you live. Kinkos usually sucks if that is the answer you are looking for.

The best option (if you can afford the equipment) is to print things yourself, that way you can calibrate the printer and monitor to be as close as possible and you know the settings so you can make adjustments as needed.

But otherwise, test, test and test again.

I've used epson 4000 inject printers--and they can produce some really nice stuff--mid size. I think the ink is pretty pricy --but maybe you're rich :)

and yeah, you've swapped your cmyk/rgb application
