Classic Photoshop Problem.

NWA

Archinecteurs! Photoshop Geniuses (?) / genii (?) !

Why do all my black layers with the opacity turned down look purple when I print / export. I was looking for something more ... grey?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

CMYK to print
RGB for digita

Make sure all your images are in the same color format within the PS file. RGB black printed next to CMYK black is several shades different.

CMYK only if you are going to a pro printer, you should be fine leaving everything RGB if it is a personal printer (like an Epson).

Switching to CMYK is not enough!

Go to Edit - Color Settings - choose PrePress and make sure its NOT set to WEB because you will lose half of your colors!

Hope this helps.

It could also be a screen issue. as screens age, they tend to burn/dim-two identical screens from the same company will age differently and can render the same color differently. check it on another screen/machine?

also printing through adobe pdf? will definitely "purple" things out and flatten all the opacity changes.
