Trying to operate a trial disk of Autocad 2010 on Windows 7, installed it, and I can't get past the splash intro, it goes to the gray background, then disappears in a few seconds. I don't even get to the point to authorize the software....
Running a new machine, 64bit, quad core, just upgraded to win 7....
were there any errors/interruptions during installation? I had a machine once that just didn't want to install ACAD--had to try multiple times and finally had to uninstall then manually edit the registry in order to clean up the left over bits from installation/uninstallation (make sure to delete any leftover folders too)
Um it's Autodesk and Windows. Did you really expect either of them to make a quality product that works without flaws? I didn't think so.
If it makes you feel better it took me 3 days to install Revit on my Vista machine. At least with the Revit install, the splash screen problem was a result of not having proper .net framework versions installed or the installed one being corrupted or something. If you google Revit 2010 and .net framework you should find a blog or something that explains it better. Basically you uninstall all versions of .net framework and then reinstall making sure you get 3.... installed.
Also I had to look into a couple different sources to make sure that the previous failed install of Revit was gone for good, because let me tell you, Autocad just marks it's territory all over your hard drive. I downloaded the uninstall tool which helped to delete all the registry folders and misc folders that Revit was installed in. Also empty your windows temp folder. Autodesk has a guide to uninstalling their software on their website so use that as a rough guide but use the Uninstall tool program to uninstall with instead of Windows.

Anyone have a solution to this?
works on mine. most of the time. some days it crashes every few minutes, some it's fine.

works perfectly on my windows 7 rc machine.
what version of win7 are you using? home premium, professional or ultimate?
home premium
ultimate for me. a buddy is using professional and autocad's pretty much shit itself for him.

Well hope that helps.
I have had similar problems that le eff you see kay has had with vista and various programs requiring different versions of the .net framkework.
Seems particularly slanted towards HP computers (go figure!).
I have now like 6 .net frameworks installed and things seem to be peachy keen.
This is the problem:

Not surprisingly, their solution didn't work for me.
I love how Autodesks solution to everything is "just install it and reinstall"
all tech support should be preceded with:
"If you rebooted or reinstalled and it still doesn't work, then......"
