M.Arch I portfolio review

b.radical

hey everyone,

I'm applying for M.Arch 1 program with a B.S in Interior Design.  Would really appreciate the feedback on my portfolio.  Applying to U of Houston, Sci-Arc and UT Austin.

Hey:

It is really clean and well balanced, and distributed across the pages in a manner that is very pleasing to the eye.  Not only does it show design sense, it also shows a good hand for detailing, freehand drawing, and craftsmanship.

Now, since I've heaped all this praise on your portfolio, there are 3 minor things I don't like:

(1)  I don't like the cover in that it's almost obnoxious and inconsistent with the general style of the contents, so please come up with something more simple and, while it should include your name, it shouldn't overpower the reader

(2)  On the inside front cover, can you occupy that page with something, and not something kitsch, to transition from the cover page to the contents, which are nicely laid out?

(3)  I may be more traditional, and red may be trendy.  If it is, so be it.  How about considering a dark orange, a dark red, a charcoal, or a deep slate blue color, among others?  Experiment.  Personally, I like more understated colors. It's your call, though.

Nice!

Your cover looks like the RUN | DMC logo and the interior.architecture text shouldnt be repeated 4 times. Just keep it simple. Add something to that first page behind the cover like a CV or bio to fill in the space. otherwise it looks okay. Where are you applying to?
