%*!&"# Firefox!!

I am completely fed up! I love the Firefox browser by Mozilla, and think it is a cut above the rest. However the latest update 3.09 has me pissed - I've had 7 crashes in the last 24 hours (8 of which I was sleeping).

It seems other people have been having this problem as well. If anyone else has been having problems with this recent update put your gripes here.

Yea, allegedly Chrome is the way to go. You could investigate Opera as well.

I use the newest (beta) release of Safari for Windows... It's generally fast, has a clean interface, built-in RSS reader, and I can use MobileMe to sync all my bookmarks between my home computer, my work computer, and my iPhone.

Being a beta version, though, it still has a few bugs and stability issues... It seems to run much better on my work computer (brand-new quad-core w/ Vista) than on my home computer (5-year-old dual-core w/ XP Pro). But then, I think my home computer has some problems that go beyond which web browser I use.

I use Firefox as a backup and haven't had any problems with it, but I don't think I've downloaded the newest release yet.

you mac users can suck an egg! I love you but I mean it. Mac mac mac sigh.... jealousy is a hard one.

Anyway. I'm not going to sway from firefox, it's brilliant!! Blows Safari (crap) out of the water, Chrome is out because it doesn't run delicious, don't even get me started on IE....

Btw I run firefox on Xp (the last true windows OS - and perhaps end of an era ... esp since I'll have to join the mac camp simply to have a machine that obeys my commands)

Any you all suck! Is no else in archinect-world having this problem. Damn me and the auto-updates - I'm going to have go with crizz and stop updating for a while - damn software architects and their tinkering

Chrome is great, EXCEPT, I can't seem to open web based PDF pages which is very annoying...if anyone knows a fix for that, please share.

apu I threw out ie ages ago.... it takes far too long to load anything. It's Bill Gates spying on your information selling your identity to the highest bidder. How do you think he makes so much money??

have you tried totally uninstalling it and re-installing??

Chrome is good, safari for windows isn't bad either, though I'm running all these on Vista x64 so maybe the XP versions are bit less stable??

Ad block plus is essential

XP is great stable
i suspect your system is otherwise corrupt

try a clean install of windows (non MS version) or install firefox to different directory

The best thing about Firefox is the "noscript" plug-in, allowing you the user to choose which websites can run scripts on the webpages that you view. Thus no flashing adverts!

There's also the Adblock Plus plug-in that allows you to rip images from flash sites via the ABP button. Genius.

I had a real bee-atch of a problem (always problems that you, my children create) w/ Firefox & raised some hell on their Support Forum.
within half a day I had a good, somehwat comprehensible answer from one of the computer geeks on the forum. Computer people seldom give logical, step-by-step answers, but I was able to pull out the essentials from this one.

Try: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Support+Website+Forums

BTW, to make things even more interesting, Firefox now has a 3.0.10 version.

running Firefox on vista - keeps crashing and I've lost count on the updates from 3.0 to get to 3.0.10. rubbish - any more and I'm ditching it for Chrome.

mine is crashing regularly too. google desktop also suddenly does not work, and i suspect that is because of FF too. which is a bitch.

ok the crashing has stopped. 3.0.10 is the fix for all the problems 3.0.09 created. It's pretty good

I HAD THIS ISSUE AS WELL!!! YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!
webpages would go completely blank if i tried to scroll down

i kept thinking it was my internet connection, checked and rechecked that -- no issues.
checked viruses..no problems.

i thought i was going insane -- UNTIL i downloaded the newest version of firefox...MUCH BETTER.

hope that helps.

The newly polished Chrome 4 has extensions now.

To the PDF problem:

Usually web based PDFs open automatically but there's now an extension for that. It is called "Docs PDF/PowerPoint Viewer (by Google)". Hope that works.
