Vectorworks to InDesign

designthis

Hi All,

Longtime viewer, first time post-er.

What is the best way to export a drawing from Vectorworks (I'm using VW2009) to InDesign (I'm using CS4)? Every time I try, the lineweights become furry and I'm hoping someone might have some ideas about preventing this.

And yes, I've looked at previous posts.

Thanks for the advice in advance!

but in reality, I'd go to vectorworks to pdf to photoshop to pdf to indesign.

vectorworks has shitty color management and if you're having someone else print these... they're going to fuck with them adjusting the inking.

What are you doing?

You can choose the print resolution in the print dialogue box in Vectorworks.

the easiest way to get drawings from VWX to IDD is to copy and paste - it works and it is super simple.

hi rockandhill,

Thanks for the advice.

Exporting from VW as an EPS and then choosing 'place' in InDesign works perfectly.

I haven't tried your other suggestion yet, I haven't had to export anything with colour at this point thankfully.
