Ok, I jumped the gun there. On the above form it also says:
Please do not use this form for OSAP Deferrals. Fees can be deferred for OSAP recipients at SGS when you present a Notice of Assessment covering at least the minimum first payment. Students in Management, OISE/UT, Social Work and Information Studies should visit their graduate office for OSAP deferrals.
haha, wow. totally different form. i am using the one that admissions and awards sent to me in the mail with my loan info. i cant get OSAP as a US citizen, mine is for US federal loans. in any case, the one i have says to 'take, mail or fax [it] to your Registrar's/Student Account's/Bursar's Office.' i e-mailed and called Student Accounts but havent heard back, so i just faxed it anyway.
This may be a bit off topic... but i'm heading to U of T for my undergrad and plan to take the architecture course there.. However, it seems as though the degree is not accredited. After graduating, I will receive a Bachelor of Architecture, Arts....
So does this degree allow me to apply to future universities in the US or the UK?
After graduating from the U of T undergraduate BA Architectural Studies program, you will receive an Honours Bachelor of Arts with a major in Architectural Studies. You can combine your major with another discipline, which means you'll end up with a double major in architecture and something else, such as fine arts, urban studies, geography, math, economics, computer science, etc. You may also major in architecture and minor in 2 other disciplines.
In terms of applying to future universities, you'll need to look at the admission requirements of each school. Some universities offer professional programs for people without architectural or design backgrounds. Some places require you to have already taken certain numbers of design studio courses. Some schools offer professional programs that are continuation of their undergraduate degrees. In such case, they will evaluate the equivalency of your BA degree to their pre-professional programs.
One thing that you need to know, when you start your first year undergrad at U of T, you're not guaranteed a space in the BA Architectural Studies program. You'll need to achieve certain academic standing in the 2 pre-requisite ARC courses and compete with other students. Check their website for more information.
Hi ALL!! no significant reading done on my end. I just got back from the NYC intro architeture program at columbia and it was the BOMB if you know anybody who is tryign to get in to M.Arch or develop a portfolio i highly recommend the program. I'm excited to meet everone at U of T ! c you all very very soon!!!
8/05 i emailed, to verify where to send the form. i faxed it to them the next day. today, 8/13, someone emailed me back. they basically said that despite the entirely different instructions on the form and on the web, i now have to take my form (in person!) to my faculty.
on the bright side, it didnt take admissions and awards the stated 'several weeks' to get back to me. on the gloomy side, i anticipate that i will eventually get this sorted out and will still have no idea how its actually supposed to work -- so if anyone searches this forum in the future ill have no answer. sorry!
im on my last day today in this office, and officially only have 7 hours and 44 minutes to go!
so has the intro workshop started yet or is it next week? how do you guys like it so far? i am moving to toronto late... very late... sunday morning :P... my only option- and now its really freaking me out!
the workshop is great. i recommend it for anyone attending next year. we are all now familiar with the location, space, and the people. the architecture building is in a great busy location. we have a project presentation due on tuesday. apparently some critics like current profs and students coming in. i now have a good sense of how intense it's going to be. especially near deadlines. see the rest of you guys soon.
So just curious, how much money do you guys and gals estimate spending for one year of school at U of T? With living costs, tuition, books, materials etc....Who took out a loan? How much and with whom?

has anyone made significant progress on the reading list?
i've been reading:
recovering landscape
delirious ny
history of modern arch
all in parallel
all slowly
hehe i watched hiroshima mon amour and 2046 :P
thats about it... :P:P
anybody look at the dean's book? i am pretty confident that i am not among the ranks of its intended audience.
history of modern arch is pretty good, except that i have only read the first chapter or 2 and then skipped around looking at pictures.
i read massive change in one sitting last year. then i put it down. then i wondered where the last couple hours went...
it sort of felt like losing your keys.
