hi im 15 and want to be a architect and i dont know what to do to be able to get in to portsmouth univsity architectural school and i was wondring if anybody could put me in the right direction because no one in my school knows what i should do to be an architect
I am Greek and I studied in the University of Manchester so maybe your application has to be made in a similar way.
First of all search the university site and get a brochure telling you all the details needed. Then (if everything still works that way) you have register at UCAS. You will make you application through this site.
Create a good portfolio with anything you do related to architecture. From childish stencils to free hand or linear drawings. Even photographs you' ve taken if you are interested in photography.
In my case I had to sit for language exams (IELTS) but I think you don't have to do something like that (assuming that you are British)
Finally they will give you a conditional offer asking you to achieve a goal (smth like a GPA needed etc)
That was my experience (but for you it may be different, as I was a foreign applicant).
Study life drawing and sculpture. Draw some more. Get a summer job in construction. Get good grades. Draw some more. Visit notable buildings. Draw them while you are there. Keep a sketchbook and work in it every day. Research things you find interesting or puzzling. Read voraciously. Be sure to include:
MacCauley's illustrated books (Castle, Cathedral, City, Pyramid etc.)
From Bauhaus to Our House, Tom Wolfe
The Death and Life of Great American Cities, Jane Jacobs
Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House, Eric Hodgins
Can someone help me
