masters in urban planning or structural engineering after civil engineering before applying to march 1

hello every one,is this a good idea to do a mtech in planning ??,i want to do march  1 from a reputed school,will this help me and to what extent ??i m also thinking of masters in structural engineering..any sugestions???i m not in a hurry to aplly for any school and wil think after 2-3 years .my undergrad degree is in civil engineering with 3.72 gpa..

actually my main focus is to get in to top 15 grad school for architecture ,what about structural engineering ??

The main thing u need to think about is why u want to transfer to these fields. Compare to other majors, civil(especially structure) has some advantages to enroll in MArch. But u need to prepare a good portfolio. Though ur GPA is high now, it doesn't make much sense for applying architecture school. Portfolio is the main thing.
What's more, if u want to go to top 15 grad school, civil engineering major may be easier to get into.shorter and cheaper to get the degree.

hey tinson49 thanks for u r advice,my main intention is to get in to first professional degree in architecture as i m more intrested to learn architecture ,and to get in to this programme , i m thinking of masters in planning or structural engineering .i think along with a nice portfolio i must also have some edge over other applicants,as a international student (from india) as  many other must be applying for the same,
