Admission to UF

I was just wondering what does it take to enter the Bachelor's program in UF as in skill set and actual requirements to enter their School of Architecture

Thank you

Hey,

UF doesn't have a bachelors of architecture, they offer a 4-year bachelors of design, which has to be paired up with a Masters of Architecture. Depending on your experience, there's a few ways you can go about it:

If you haven't attended college, simply apply as an undergraduate to UF, and select Architecture as your Major.  No previous experience is required.

If you have an associate's degree, you can enter the program through a summer program which accelerates you to second year.

If you have a bachelor's degree in something other than Architecture, you can apply for the core program, in which you can earn a master's degree in 4 years. You need a portfolio for this.

Let me know if you have any questions, I'm currently a senior in the program.

I'm sure rolandolopez can answer this question...does UF still do portfolio reviews during second year to determine who advances in the program and who has to change majors or reapply?

You don't need a portfolio to enter the undergraduate program, all you need to do is apply to UF, and select Architecture as your major. Let me know if you're interested to come to see the school in the spring, I will be there.

And yes, there's still pin-up reviews at the end of the second year. It's not as harsh as some people make it out to be, but some people do get cut, at which point you have to change your major. There's a lot more people that drop because they don't want to go on Architecture than people who get cut.

Yeah, you essentially select your best work from the first two years and place it in a 4'x9' board ( something like that) and leave it in the office for a blind judgement process. Also, your GPA and grades in design account for whether you pass or not. However, if you're doing good in your classes, pin up is usually not a big concern.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me/message me! Best of luck!
