just wondering because Im thinking of not pútting the money for the Duwo place, its kinda shotty and like a guy said on this thread...delft is kinda dead. I have 2 days to decide. I would say we get a place together in rotterdam together if its cool with you, but you already got it.
MC. bus stops in front of every building in the campus... after the train (two stations both equally far) you need to take the bus as well. But a lot of busses drive from the station to the campus actually (almost every 10 min and in rush hour more, after peak hours only 2 or 4 an hour).
Mac- Thanks for the info... I'd better get started in looking into the bus...
Sparks, Yeah, I'm locked into this place now, and with two days that would be kinda hard to find a decent place... I agree with you on Delft being kinda dead, but it is quite picturesque and with nothing going on it will be easy to focus on the studies. Now that I'm seeing these 0845 meetings in the schedule I'm starting to cry to have to make any commute that early in the morning. I never made it to classes that early in Undergrad... oh boy.

I like your style, hehe... I think I'll have to follow that path.
I have a new question: I am looking into going to have to find a part-time job to supplement my finances here. I do have an EU passport so those residence issues shouldn't be a problem. I've heard that finding a part-time job in an architecture firm is quite difficult because they are all looking for full time workers. Would you know of any firms that may hire part time workers? I also don't mind trying to look into a non-architecture jobs, I am wondering if there is a good place to start looking that I wouldn't know. Anything that could help a non-dutch speaking person to find some work.
Finding work shouldn't be that hard (especially with a EU passport). Without could be quite a task and I do not know any regislation about that. Everybody speaks english so that is ok. It all depends on your standards and availability.
digging up this old thread... I just wonder if anyone is looking for a housemate or is subrenting his or her room in delft or rotterdam area... it is for several months (or possibly longer time) cuz I am just done with the grad sch at delft and still need to figure out where to go. many thanks..
the house that i live in now is located in rotterdam and has one empty room if you like. it is not very close to the central station but there are trams and buses that you can take very close [like 2-3 minutes walk] to the house and like 15 mins to the station. tell me if you re interested.
same problem but a year later.. i'm looking for a house/apartment to share in delft. I’m in the msc program so i'm looking for housing for 1 to 2 years.. any advice? thanks!
just don't stay on campus in those containers, but in the city of
Delft or Rotterdam, and if you're an EU resident get an 8hr/week job to be eligible for Dutch study support and free travelling.
I used http://www.kamernet.nl/dsp_uk.php to help me find a place in Rotterdam. It would be best if you got something in Delft, but it's more difficult to find a place. In Rotterdam I would stay north or northeast of the train station, and anything east of Coolsingal. Delfshaven in Rotterdam is also fairly nice but a bit far from the train station. I went for the school housing for my first year there. I stayed in Marcushof, probably the best building of all of them. Once you make connections their for the 2nd year then you can find a better place in Delft.
Also, make sure you get a bike and a good lock right when you get there!
I have received accomodation at Poptahof Noord- shared facilities for 340 euro's. shared kitchen and bathroom but has all the amenities i could ask for. A 10 min commute by bike. Hassle free. Looks like i will stick with this and probably find something cheaper next year.
Anyone in mastertrack Architecture here?
for shared housing with dutch students check for flyers at the faculty with the word "instemming" or google delft+instemming or something
for international housing ask around everyone you meet/know if you don't want to be in the arranged housing like poptahof, which is actually pretty ok and everything is arranged AND your not in a container at campus where NOTHING happens and where are no shops/bars etc.)
Poptahof (not too long ago the most dense area of Europe)
That's really useful, thanks a lot for the links and info!! I got offered accommodation through the school as well, but recently I had heard a bunch of negative things about it, so before I signed the 11 months contract I wanted to weigh my options - my biggest problem was actually the 11 months contract because my situation might change and I didn't want to be stuck with such an inflexible contract.
I'm mastertrack architecture as well. Spyrogyra, did you get any info on the specialization?
yea. I got a mail from TU two weeks back asking me to list down my specialization options. I have chosen the why factory, under which the automated city. I guess they would weigh the number of students under each specialisation and finally get back to us.
Regarding the housing- yea, the inflexible contract is a bit unnerving but i guess for international students it seems easier. 300 euro deposit is a huge amount to ditch.
I am doing my bachelors in architecture & will be in Delft for student exchange during feb-july....I didn't signed up for DUWO and looking for 2 rooms as one of my friend will also join... I already checked kamernet and rostvasts.. but no success.. let me know if someone find a room or have further suggestions and links to look forward or is willing to rent an apartment together...
TU Delft - Housing
yeah man... how else would it work?

see you guys there,
Depends where you live in Rotterdam but it will take you anywhere from 30 min to 1.15 hours to get to University...
just skip those early meetings and reschedule in the afternoon, that was what I did...

what are the chances of getting a job without an EU passport?!
